Date: 9/21/2007 Title: I've been M.I.A.
Wow it's been a really long time since I've written something here. I just wanted to let you know what has been going on. Early in the summer, my 83 year old mother in NJ was having some health problems. By mid-June, she ended up in the hospital for a week where they found that her heart was slowing down. They put in a pacemaker at that time. I have been communting back and forth between NJ and DE to take care of her. Staying over when she was having particular bad days. Just this past Labor Day, she had some more problems that seem to be related to the thyroid. It was causing irregular heartbeats and shortness of breath. After numerous appointments with her WONDERFUL family Dr. George Seretis , her cardiologist and her endocrinologist, I think we are finally on the road to recovery.
Needless to say, I fell way behind on orders. I apologize for that. Now that things are on the upward trend, I'm back to painting. It will take me a little while to get caught up but I know that I will have it done. I just want to thank everyone for being so patient and understanding.
I have cut out a good amount of my craft shows this season. I think this will help me to keep up with orders once I get caught up. I will miss doing the craft shows but weekends are my prime painting days and vending at the craft shows will cut in to my actual painting time.
I will be doing the Wilmington Kennel Club's Agility Trial Oct 6 & 7 , Pedricktown Days in NJ Oct 13 and Tallyville craft show on Nov 24. Other than that, I'm just sort of playing it by ear. There is an agility trial in Aston PA in Nov. that I would like to do but have not heard back yet if a space is available. Depending on what progress I make, I may add more. Keep an eye on my calendar of events for any changes.
Although Friday was pretty close to a wash out, Saturday was such a fun day! Actually, the sun finally came out late Friday afternoon and started to dry out the lake that I had in front of my booth.
There were so many GORGEOUS dogs here! I was like a kid in a candy store. As you know, I have a new favorite breed every time I come home from these shows. My favorite breed from this show is the Chinese Crested. How darn cute these guys are!!!
All in all, it was a really fun weekend. Pat Pawsey and the Wilmington Kennel Club did a fantastic job. There were so many vendors there including some of my favorites such as Wiskazz & Pawzz and K-9 Krunchies. The rescues and shelters turned out such as the hard working Greyhound rescue and the Delaware Humane.
If you love dogs and have never attended one of these shows, do youself a favor and GO next year. You, like me, will be in doggy heaven!
I almost forgot....The winner of my door prize $25.00 gift certificate goes to Jan DSaba of Jarrettsville MD. Congrats Jan!!!

What a fantastic day it was yesterday at the Delaware Dog Fest!! The weather could not have been any better either. The Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League did a wonderful day coordinating the event. I swear , this group is one of the hardest working rescues out there.
Everyone had a great time. I got to see some of my favorite 4 leggers like my neices Alyssa, Myah, Kiah. I also saw Gunny, Reggie, Cassie and Lily. The best part is that I also got to meet new 4 legged friends such as Maggie, Jake , Chase and Mack.
I'd also like to send a big Congratulations out to Pat Masilotti who was my door prize winner. Pat won a $25.00 gift certificate to my website. Wooohooo Congrats Pat!!!
Date: 4/23/2007 Title: Chessies progress
I spoke to Charlotte and have an update on dear Chessie. This is directly from Charlotte.
The cystoscopy results, which I received on April 9th, showed that the nodules on the urethral and vulvar walls are not cancerous BUT the specialist isn't rulling out cancer yet. It could still be TCC - transitional cell carcinoma, because he did see something, although it was not raised, on Chessie's bladder wall when he performed the cystoscopy. We are scheduled for another ultrasound on May 2nd at 8am. I opted for that right now instead of bladder surgery. The antibiotics he had her on for the blood in the urine has cleared that up so far and I'm not seeing any blood in her urine right now. Her spirits are great, her appetite is great and she is not losing any weight which is a great sign. Also, she's walking pretty well on her back leg right now, considering she tore her ACL during that last snow/ice storm the beginning of February, right around the time that all of this other stuff with her was happening.
I will keep you posted on what the findings are with the ultrasound on May 2nd. Keep your fingers crossed!
We will keep Chessie in our prayers. I'm so happy that she's feeling better!

Date: 4/18/2007 Title: Dining for Forgotten Cats!
I'm very excited about the fundraiser that Forgotten Cats has going on right now. You can help the many cats who need it simply by going out to dinner. This is a win/win situation. Everyone loves to eat right? What could be better than enjoying a great meal and helping out a few of the many homeless cats out there.
On particular dates, if you eat at participating restaurants, they will donate a part of their profits to Forgotten Cats. You must present the flyer though.
There are many more local restaurants lined up also so make sure you check back.
Forgotten Cats is an organization that is very near and dear to my heart. Forgotten Cats along with Dumpster Cats helped me out with a feral colony of cats when I could find help no where else. Forgotten Cats came out and helped me trap 23 cats. I had no clue that I was feeding that many. They spay/neutered them, gave them their shots and were able to find homes for about 10 of them. 3 ended up as my indoor kitties and I am now a caretaker of a feral colony consisting of the rest. I have often been told that I have the healthiest looking feral cats ever. I will be forever greatful to Forgotten Cats for what they have done for my kitties and me.
Date: 4/7/2007 Title: Happy Easter Everyone!
I would just like to tell everyone Happy Easter! Enjoy the day with family and friends. If you find that you have just too much chocolate, please send it over to me. LOL
Date: 4/7/2007 Title: Update on Chessie
I apologize for taking so long to get back on here to give you an update on our dear friend Chessie. Charlotte emailed me with a report on her and I want to share it with you all. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to post a link to the pdf file so I'm going to just cut and paste the information here. Nope, it won't let me cut and paste either. I'm so technologically challenged. LOL
I'm going to just tell you all what is going on until I figure out how to post it. This is quoted right from the surgical discharge instructions from Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware.
Chessie had the procedure done. Diagnosis: Possible bladder wall mass or hemorrhage. Multiple small urethral and vulvar wall noduals- possible causes include lymphatic immune stimulation, cancer spread
Treatment Summary: Cystourethroscopy was performed. The abnormal bladder wall was inaccessible due to bleeding. Biopsy of the urethral and vulvar walls were obtained. Further testing/treatment will depend upon these results. As we discussed, surgical biopsy of the bladder wall may be needed in the future.
Monitoring: Monitor for increased pain, inappetance, vomiting, diarrhea or coughing. Although some tiredness is to be expected initially, please let us know if this seems excessive or does not improve over 1-2 days.
Comments: Results will be in in about a week.
Please keep Chessie in our prayers for the biopsy to come back with good results. Also please keep Charlotte in our prayers as I know she must be sick with worry.
Coming real soon, Have dinner with Forgotten Cats! We are lining up a variety of restaurants that will participate in this fundraiser. So why not feed yourself , feed the kitties? Everybody eats and everyone is happy! I'll keep you posted. As soon as we firm up the dates, you will be able to download your flyer right here at Pet Lovers Boutique. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! I also hope to be adding some really cool items to their page real soon.
If you check out the Animal Fundraising page, you will see that Dumpster Cats Rescue League has added some great items to purchase for your kitty. We have marinated mice for you cat! Your cats will go wild over these. Also, catnip poms, Spay/neuter magnet and a set of 2 Pet Alert stickers.
I hope to be able to add the Partylite Candle fundraiser products for Chessie this week. I tried over the weekend but my scanner was just not cooperating. I believe Chessie will be having the procedure done next week but I'll let you know for sure once I talk with Charlotte. So far, the response has been great. Thank you all for your kind donations. I will be meeting with Charlotte later this week to give her the money.
Doggie kisses and Kitty cat purrs to you all! Mary Wilson Pet Lovers Boutique
Date: 4/1/2007 Title: Hodgson Vo-Tech Craft show
Thank you all for stopping by to say hi at Hodgson Vocational Technical High School. It was a beautiful day and there was a good turn out. I met some pretty wonderful people and 2 super fantastic 4 leggers which always makes my day.
I met Brutus the Pug and Harley the Chihuahua. Harley is really one cool dude. He is a gorgeous black and brown chihuahua with quite the personality. He was wearing a cool diamond earring and a silver bone chain. When I say cool, I mean COOL! I fell in love with this guy and he was loving the attention. He was there with his mom Susan at her booth for her business Paws & Claws.
Today, I have been just relaxing and painting some more puppy dogs. Now it's time for bed so that I can be ready for that lovely Monday morning at work. UGH! Why do the weekends go so fast?
Date: 3/30/2007 Title: Craft Show Tomorrow!
I just wanted to come online real quick and let you know that I will be at Hodgson Vo-Tech tomorrow. It's a smaller booth than I'm used to but the show is one of the best in Delaware. Come on out and visit! It's going to be a beautiful day (I hope) My booth with all of my doggie and kitty things will be in the Cafeteria.
Some of my good friends from Dumpster Cats Animal Rescue League will also be there with a booth. You should see all of the cute dog and cat things they have too! They have marinated mice for the kitties!!!! Ok I'll let you in on a secret, they are not REAL mice but don't tell the cat!
Anyway, if you are in the area, come on out to Hodgson Vocational Technical school tomorrow 3/31 from 9-4. It's located just off of Rt. 896 in Newark/Glasgow. If you are coming 95S from Wilmington, take the 896 exit towards Middletown. Make a right on to Rt. 40 and the first left between Brewsters and I think it's a Shell or Sunoco station. The school entrance is on the left just after the back entrance to Home Depot shopping center. 2575 Glasgow Ave.
Date: 3/28/2007 Title: Dinner
I had a hot roast beef sandwich and pasta salad for dinner. LOL
Not much happening today. I took mom to her Dr today for her every other week Procrit shot. I didn't even get a chance to paint tonight. Hopefully tomorrow night I'll be able to paint.
I had a few new ideas today for the animal rescue fundraiser page but no chance to work out the details yet. I was even busy at work today!
I was able to add Forgotten Cats to the fundraising page though. Forgotten Cats is so near and dear to my heart. They have helped me so much with my feral cat colony. If it wasn't for them, I don't know if my ferals would be alive today. Tomorrow, I'll let you know all about Forgotten cats and what they do. But now, it's off to bed. I'm getting back in to my bad habits of going to bed late so I'm trying to get back on track before I wear myself down again.
Date: 3/27/2007 Title: Meet Chessie!
Hello and welcome to my new section totally devoted to my furry friends! Here I plan on telling you what's going on out there in the shelter/rescue world. I have a LOT planned for Pet Lovers Boutique this year. There are so many cats and dogs and other pets that really need our help. I hope to be able to do a small part in making their life better, that is with your help.
Here I will also list events that will be going on to benefit the animals. I hope to give you tips with the pets and what you can do to help.
I'm really excited about this! If you don't know already, a portion of the proceeds from any of my hand painted pet items will be donated to a shelter or rescue group. Now YOU can choose where you would like that donation to go. When ordering, you will now find a drop down menu where you can choose the group you would like to help . Pretty neat huh?
So let's start doing some good for those furbabies. You with me?
I would like to now introduce you to Chessie.
Chessie is a 6 year old black lab/golden mix, adopted as a puppy from a local no-kill animal shelter in 2001. Chessie`s human mommy, Charlotte Neuberger, has volunteered for local Delaware animal rescue organizations since 1998. Charlotte is now volunteering for a local dog rescue organization and a cat rescue organization and has , on numerous occasions, helped to pay for medical care of the rescued dogs and cats needing help. Assisting an animal in need has never been a problem for Charlotte. But now this need has hit home, as Chessie`s health is failing and Charlotte`s monetary funds to help her own beloved dog are tight which is why we are trying to help raise money for Chessie`s healthcare.
In February, Chessie developed what was originally diagnosed as a urinary tract infection. But antibiotics did not clear it up. Chessie then underwent an x-ray, and then an ultrasound, which detected irregularities, mineralization and thickening to the bladder wall. It is very possible that Chessie may have Transitional Cell Carcinoma, a fatal form of Cancer if not caught in time. The most accurate way of determining whether or not she does have "TCC" and if so, how far it has spread and whether or not it is still treatable is to perfoem a cystoscopy, a procedure which is going to cost 1,500.00 to be performed by the internal specialist at Veterinary Specialty Center who is overseeing Chessie`s condition. Any donations above the the cost of the medical help that Chessie needs will be donated to "Diamonds for Dogs", a non profit which supports local rescue dogs.
Coming soon, Home Interior fundraiser items for Chessie.
Date: 3/27/2007 Title: Been M.I.A.
Hi Everyone! I must start off by apologizing for being missing in action for so long. It was not my intention but life just got absolutely crazy! After the Christmas rush, I had planned on taking a little break but I didn't intend for it to be THIS long! lol I thought 2 weeks would have been enough, not 3 months! Anyway, I'm back and we have a lot of exciting things going on.
Thank you all for a very successful 2006. Hand Painted Gifts Online and Pet Lovers Boutique had a great year because of you! My heart was warmed by realizing that there were so many animal lovers out there. The highlight of my year was meeting so many gorgeous dogs and cats and their owners.
This year, I would like to give this website a little more purpose than to just sell my wares. I'd like to be able to help those furry friends out there that need our help. You will notice now that when you order any of my unique hand painted pet gifts that there will be a drop down menu so that you can choose which non profit pet rescue you would like me to donate to. That's right, a portion of every animal purchase that you make will go to help cats and dogs that are in need.
I'm still in the process of setting it all up but we will be featuring organizations such as Forgotten Cats, A Buddy for Life, Delaware Humane Association, Faithful Friends, Dumpstercats, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue and many many more.
I started out with a medical fund for Chessie. Chessie belongs to a good friend of mine who is VERY active in animal rescues. She has the heart of gold and has helped many including myself in the past. Read Chessie's story under my Animal Rescue blog.
If you are a member of an animal rescue that you would like me to feature, please email me with your information. All animal rescues that I feature must be: 1. No-Kill shelter or rescue 2. 501c organization.
Well, I had better get back to the painting table. I have a really cute pomeranian that I'm working on.
Check back soon. I promise that I won't disappear again. Even if I have nothing better to say than to tell you what I had for dinner, I'll be back! lol
Date: 11/16/2006 Title: Craft show this weekend!
Hi Everyone! I'm sorry that I haven't checked in for awhile. I've been busy taking care of my mom in NJ and a sick ferel cat that I take care of. I'm happy to report that both are on the mend. A special thank you to the angel that helped me out with the kitty. You know who you are.
There has been a lot of things going on. I've been busy busy busy painting for upcoming craft shows and filling orders. I'm still guaranteeing all custom orders before Christmas. Right now, I'm running about 3 weeks behind on orders which is still plenty of time to send me those doggies and kitties for me to paint. I'm thinking that I'm going to make the cut off December 1 for anything that needs to be shipped. Hopefully, I can put an extra pile of coal on the fire and get a little more caught up so that I can extend that deadline a bit.
I'd like to thank all the great people that came out to see me at Indian Lane Elementary School in Media PA. It's the first time I've ever that show and it was really a great one. Everyone was so nice!
I will be at the Red Lion Christian Academy this weekend for a 2 day show. Red Lion Christian Academy is located on Red Lion Road in Bear DE. The show runs Friday, Nov. 17 from 5-9pm and Saturday Nov. 18 from 9am - 4pm. Please stop out and say hi. If you have never been to this show, you must come. It's a biggie and they have a lot to offer. The vendors are terrific and they also offer a Chicken & Dumplin dinner that you can purchase, they have a fantastic auction and lots of things going on for the children.
So if you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, come on over to Red Lion Road for the craft show! Make sure you stop by and say hi!
First, the Faithful Friends Furry Fest was a huge success. Although a big windy, the sun was out bright and everyone had a ball. Thank you all for letting me take pictures of your precious pups. I saw a lot of future models for my painting. I wish I didn't have to work a full time job and could just paint all day. My favorite little girls came by to see me Alyssa and Kiah, the miniature Australian shepherds along with their 2 legged friend Melinda. It's always a pleasure being reunited with them. By the way, Alyssa and Kiah won the costume contest. They were cop and robber. Also the precious golden retrievers Mandy and Reno stopped by to say hi. I also met a lot of new friends such as The marines , Gunny and Reggie and their girlfriends Lilly and Cassie. How cute they all looked in their costumes. Also met a handsome boston named Baxter and an adorable dachound named Hunter. There were so many gorgeous doggies there. It was a fun day. The day's events included music and games. The priest also came out to bless the animals. St Anthony in the Hills in Avondale is such a pretty place to hold this event. I can't wait until next year.
Yesterday , I set up a booth at Whiskazz & Pawzz benifit for Canine Partners for Life called Howl-O-Ween. Although the wind gave us many challenges to overcome, it was a fun day. What cute costumes all the puppies had! Boy you folks are very creative. It's funny that I'm starting to recognize the dogs before I do the owners. Is that funny or what? Again, my faithful friends Mandy, Reno, Alyssa, Kiah, Gunny, Reggie, Cassie and Lilly were there to say hi. I got to also meet K-9 Krunchie owner Chris's Dachound named Shaggy. What a cutie he is and he was dressed up as a hot dog. I'm not sure that Shaggy was amused but all were. If your furry friends have not tried K-9 Krunchie's home made dog biscuits you really should. Chris makes them out of all natural ingredients and the biscuits have been approved by the dept . of agriculture, which is very important in the health of the dog. You can check out her site at http://www.k9krunchies.com
Date: 9/24/2006 Title: Walk for the Animals and Art on the Green
Thank you all for coming out to Art on the Green yesterday in New Castle. It was a really fun day. I enjoyed talking with all of you and of course I enjoyed receiving all of the doggie kisses during the day. I'm really going to hate having to take the craft shows inside because I don't get to see as many fur babies then.
Next week, we have a really fun and exciting day happening on Sunday Oct. 1. If you are in the area, come on out to Banning Park for the Walk for the Animals sponsored by Delaware Humane Association. I know for a fact that I'm going to lose my head at this because there will be so many cute doggies there that I will be like a kid in the candy store! Yes, of course I'm going to have my digital camera with me so make sure you stop by so I can snap a picture of your furry baby! As you know, I'm always looking for new models for my paintings. Leave your email address with me and I'll send you a copy of the picture.
This is Delaware Humane's 16th annual walk for the animals so I know it's going to be wonderful. It is a rain or shine event so let's put our paws to the air and pray for sun! Banning Park is located on Maryland Avenue in Wilmington DE. The event is hosted by the radio station WSTW.
There is so much going on there. You will enjoy the music of WSTW and you can participate in a variety of Canine Contests such as smallest dog, best kisser, best tail wagger, stupid pet tricks, dog/owner lookalike (my favorite one) and so much more!
Every Canine in attendance will receive a goodie bag and a bandana!
There will be a Silent Auction featuring animal art including "Paw de Monet" creations by DHA's animals. There will be a photo booth where you can strike a pose with your pet and capture the day forever with a picture. There will be lots of vendors (including me!) selling animal related items, rescue groups and other pet related services. You can't miss this!!! Can you tell I'm excited about this?
You can also help the animals by walking that day. You can register online at http://www.delawarehumane.org or you can even register on the day of the event. So gather your friends and coworkers to form a team. Select a team name , a captain and register. There are even a lot of neat prizes for those who participate. If you raise $75.00 you will receive a walk for animals T-shirt. If you raise $500 you will receive a T shirt, Sweatshirt AND a gift certificate to Michael Gallagher Jewelers!!!! You can get that diamond studded collar that your furbaby has been wanting! Children participating can earn a gift certificate to Toys R Us or Borders book store!
This is a Can't Miss event if you love those canines. Come on out for a fun day. October 1. Registration begins at 10:30 and the actual walk begins at 11:30. Vendors should open by 10:00.
Date: 9/18/2006 Title: Chadds Ford Days
What a fun weekend it was at Chadds Ford Days. Thank you all for stopping by the booth to say hi. Also thank you folks that let me take pictures of your pretty fur babies.
What beautiful dogs you all have !!! I'm sorry that I've been so slow getting the pictures out to you in email as I have promised. It seems like time has just flown by since then. I promise to get them out to you this week.
I have to say that I had the BEST vendor neighbors at this show. In fact, to my great jewelry vendor neighbors with that cute little King Charles Spaniel Nellie....please email me at MaryNDelaware@comcast.net. I had thought that I wrote your email address down but when I went to look for it, it was not there. I apologize for that.
Well, I have to run. I just wanted to pop in for a few and say Thank you!
Date: 9/8/2006 Title: Chadds Ford Days

Date: 9/4/2006 Title: Arden Fair!
Hello! I'm sorry it's taken me awhile to get back here. It's been a crazy couple of weeks taking care of mom and trying to get ready for my long string of craft shows.
First I want to thank everyone who stopped out to the Arden Fair to say hi. What a fun day it was. The rain out on Saturday and rescedule to Sunday did not stop you all from coming out and I'm glad. I enjoyed speaking to each and every one of you. What a fantastic group of people this fair draws! I truly enjoyed chatting with many of you about your beautiful fur babies. I am really looking forward to receiving your pictures of them for me to paint. Thank you to the kind folks that let me run over and receive doggie kisses during the show also. That by far is one of my favorite things to do. What beautiful dogs you all have. Gorgeous Cavilier King Charles spaniels, adorable little dauchounds, pugs, yorkies, german shepherds, shiba inu, bichons and so many other beautiful dogs! And I met a new breed that I had never met and that was a schipperkee. Oh what a gorgeous little baby! It was so heartwarming to find that many of you that I spoke to had rescued your dogs and cats. Some had some very horrible backgrounds and I'm so happy that they are now receiving the safe loving home that they deserve! My hats off to you all!!! My heart goes out to those of you who have lost their furry loved ones recently too. To me there is not a greater loss. Just know that your furry little friends will be awaiting you at rainbow bridge. They are happy and enjoying a painfree life in a world with no neglect, abuse or torment. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to get over this kind of loss. I don't know if you ever really get over it, the pain just lessens in time . The sad moments start to be replaced with loving memories of the joy that they brought to your life. Maybe a way to help with the pain is to rescue another little fur ball from a life of neglect and pain. Maybe this will start you on your healing process. I know that your furry loved one at rainbow bridge would be very proud and excited to see their families giving the love and affection that they received for so many years to another cat or dog who is desperately in need. What a great tribute!
I spoke to 2 more lovely ladies and I hope you are reading this. I apologize because I have forgotten your names but you will know who you are when I say this. We could not figure out where we knew each other from . We went over many possibilities but did not come up with the answer. I was laying in bed last night and sure enough, it still bothered me. But....I think I might have it!!!! I went Wayyyyyyyyyyyy back in my memory bank and was wondering if you by any chance may have been a sort of regular customer at Richmans Restaurant in Woodstown NJ? I'm talking probably 20 years ago. I know this is way back but after I thought of this, I couldn't get it out of my mind. I was a waitress there for about 10 years after high school. I so wish I had taken your phone number to ask you this but I can only hope that you are reading this and will either email me or give me a call. I'm so curious to know if I'm right. I know I know the two of you. LOL
Anyway, I have really babbled on today huh? I hope that you all are doing well and enjoying your Labor Day weekend! I will be back soon. Take care, Mary
Date: 8/8/2006 Title: Greetings!
Hello everyone! First I want to thank you for visiting my blog. I'm still very new to this but will try my best to give you some interesting , fun and informative information here.
Hand Painted Gifts Online has some very exciting things coming up in the future. One of my biggest loves besides painting is animals. I love all of those furry babies. Being a pet rescue volunteer myself, I hope to make my website something that is beneficial to all of the homeless cats and dogs out there.
Recently, I've had a few setbacks with the progress of the website but hope to have those things ironed out soon. My 82 year old mother has been sick so I've needed to commute back and forth to NJ to take care of her. I'm happy to say that her health is improving and I am adjusting better and getting a little more organized again.
As of now, I donate a percentage of my profits on animal related products to the Delaware Humane Association to help shelter, feed, provide medical attention, spay/neuter and find happy forever homes for many homeless cats and dogs.
By 2007, I plan to offer assistance to many other hard working pet rescues including the following: Faithful Friends Forgotten Cats DumpsterCats Canine Partners for Life Great Dane Rescue Greyhound Rescue
If you are involved in a pet rescue that would like to be a part of this exciting plan, please email me at MaryNDelaware@comcast.net with name, address, phone number, website and email information of the rescue.
I will be working up a profile in the upcoming months for all rescues participating. Please be sure to sign up for my mailing list to be informed of all upcoming events as well as to receive special discounts only available through the list.
I'll be back soon with some fun stuff so be sure to check back.
Hugs, Mary Wilson http://www.handpaintedgiftsonline.com
